IGS Volunteers Make an Impact with The Felix Project
This week, the team at IGS dedicated two days to support The Felix Project, a remarkable London charity committed to fighting hunger and food waste. Our team of 20 volunteers, coordinated by Project Delivery Manager Rhys Ivey, spent Tuesday and Wednesday actively involved in the charity's mission.
The Felix Project does incredible work, redistributing nearly 16,000 tonnes of food each year, which is enough to create 38 million meals. This effort directly supports approximately 500,000 people every week across the capital. Our volunteers had an inspiring two days, filling crates with fresh food to be distributed to communities that need it most. We estimate 20 tonnes of food was packed and distributed in just one day alone!
Giving Back is in Our DNA
Giving back to the community is a core part of who we are. We believe in supporting initiatives that deliver tangible change and improve the lives of those around us. Our commitment to charity isn't just about a one-off event; it’s an ongoing effort that our team embraces wholeheartedly. As Darren Bradley, Associate Director, noted "We are committed to supporting charities that do great things. It brings a real sense of humbleness and gratitude to know we are supporting the community where we can. These projects, often coordinated by Rhys, draw so many of our colleagues. Not only are we doing good, but we make the days enjoyable and fun at the same time."
The experience was equally rewarding, Rhys Ivey, Project Delivery Manager for IGS comments "Setting up these volunteering days with The Felix Project has been incredibly rewarding. It’s something that really resonates with me, helping to reduce food waste while supporting those in need. I thoroughly enjoyed being involved, and it’s always good to give back where you can."
We extend a huge thank you to The Felix Project for welcoming us again and to our dedicated volunteers who made these two days such a success. We are proud of our team's commitment and look forward to our next opportunity later this year to make a positive impact.
