Elevating Regional Resilience through Incident Commander Training

The complexity of modern policing demands more than just traditional training, it requires a strategic investment in leadership under pressure. We recently had the privilege of developing and facilitating the first Incident Commander Course at the Bermuda Police Training Centre, an initiative that has set a new benchmark for operational excellence across the Caribbean.

High-Pressure Leadership

Created in partnership with BPS and delivered by Dave Twyford, the course brought together 20 dedicated incident managers from Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and Anguilla. This wasn't just a classroom exercise, it was a journey from concept to capability, specifically designed to bolster decision-making and risk management for everything from serious crime to high-risk missing person cases.

The course encompassed a rigorous scenario day, challenging delegates to demonstrate their learning in realistic, high-pressure environments. As one participant noted:

"The different type of scenarios... this challenges your ability to think in real life stressful incidents."

Unprecedented Results

We are incredibly proud to share that the feedback was nothing short of extraordinary:

  • 100% Excellence: Every single one of the 20 participants rated the course as "Excellent".

  • Perfect Facilitation: Dave Twyford received perfect scores for his expertise, credibility, and ability to spark vital professional discussion.

  • Immediate Impact: 95% of attendees confirmed they can apply their new skills directly to real-world operational incidents.

  • Zero Negative Feedback: Across ten core metrics, there was not a single "disagree" or "neutral" response.

The Commissioner’s Vision

The impact of this training resonated at the highest levels of leadership. Darrin Simons, Commissioner of Police, expressed his pride in the results and his desire to see this course become a mandatory standard.

"I support making this mandatory pre-deployment training and expanding it to inspectors and sergeants."

- Darrin Simons, Commissioner of Police, Bermuda Police Service

Our Commitment to the Overseas Territories

This course represents more than a single success story, it is a testament to our continued dedication to the British Overseas Territories (BOTs). By facilitating cross-territory learning, we are helping to build a shared operational standard that strengthens regional policing as a whole.

We believe in the power of continuous development to save lives and protect communities. This is why we remain focused on providing bespoke, relevant, and deeply impactful training that evolves alongside the challenges officers face every day.
